To The Person Who Liberates Large Objects From Our Garbage
I would like to say a word of thanks to you for removing the lawnmower from the garbage ‘gathering’ at the top of the driveway sometime this morning. I was a bit concerned that the waste removal professionals might balk at its size, but you have relieved me of that concern. I hope our old lawnmower, a hand-me-down from my folks, will be happy in your home. I also hope you are successful in making it run for longer than 20 seconds.
I am also curious — are you the same person that absconded with our office chair, which was also being discarded some months ago? If so, and you are as I suspect constructing a riding lawnmower, or perhaps an air-propelled transportation device for smooth surfaces, I commend your ingenuity and creative spirit. Please send photos of your project when you feel it is ready to be unveiled, and I shall post them here.

Your dad and I both hope that the old lawnmower has gone to a good home. That old thing meant so much to all of us. Just think of all those wonderful hours you and your brothers spent pushing that thing around the yard in Duluth. Perhaps it, with your old office chair attached, will show up soon as a riding lawnmower in Boortz’s “Redneck Scrapbook”!

You want a real challenge? Try throwing away… a garbage can.
It takes weeks of effort.

I just have to say that this sounds like a Billy Collins poem.
I hope the lawnmower is happy, now, wherever it is.
