‘lectric Candles
Design Public has some very cool rechargeable lamps: Vessel Candela. They sit on a base, presumably using some sort of inductance setup to charge. Also cool: Vessel Candeloo. I saw these first and liked the whimsical shapes, but then when I looked at the product photos and can’t shake the “kid’s nightstand” image now. Ohwell.
A few years ago I bought a set of Mathmos tumblers, and really liked them, but found the plug-in-to-charge aspect to be a bit off-putting. The Vessel portable lights look to be much more user-friendly; hopefully their batteries hold up better than the Mathmos Tumblers’.

I was very sad when my tumblers died after only three months of use. I wanted to swap out the battery, but it wasn’t an easy find.
Opening them up also tended to destroy the powder coating on the glass.
