Plugging the Tin Roof Cantina

Chap and I finally patronized the new Tin Roof Cantina yesterday. It’s near Briarcliff & N. Druid Hills Rd, which makes it one of the closest lunch joints to go to. Unlike Roadhouse, that’s a good thing. Due to the outstanding weather (it was actually cool momentarily yesterday) and Tin Roof Cantina’s rather nice-looking outdoor seating, we decided to give it a go.

The seating was indeed nice (better than nice, even), and the service was friendly and reasonably attentive. Actually, to be slightly critical it was a little overly friendly. The place was almost empty, and I guess they’re eager to please new customers.

We ordered chips & salsa, a Tin Roof Cuban for me, and the Buffalo Tender Melt for Chap. The salsa was good — not too spicy, but good texture and flavor. I really liked my Cuban. My favorite Cuban will probably always be the Kool Korners Classic Cuban, but I think this may be my second favorite, and it’s a lot more convenient. Slightly salty, which was Chap’s primary issue with his melt, but all around pretty darn good.

I think we’ll be adding it to our regular list of lunch places, which is exciting: we need more places. It was slightly pricey, but I suppose it’s worth the premium, especially for their surprisingly peaceful outdoor area. You’d hardly know you were a half block from what State Farm once named one of Atlanta’s most dangerous intersections.

It also turns out that Mike’s girlfriend just started tending bar there, so there’s yet another reason to go!

Hear hear! I hear she’s kinda cute and makes a MEAAANNN margarita! I do recomment the Fajita (pronounced: fah-G-ta in non-hispanic speak…not be confused with cues-a-diyas) Burrito. It’s a $7 football pretty much. Keep in mind there are authentic Hispanic Americans in the kitchen that make all this tasty food possible. (to be politicall correct to those reading) Cheers to the scenery!
