Nike+Me?
I never thought I’d say this, but I’m slightly intrigued by Apple’s Nike + iPod product after reading Cabel Sasser’s Multiplayer Game of the Year. The whole idea is that you put this transmitter in your shoe, and it transmits data on your movement to the iPod Nano, which then records it and allows you to store it and work toward goals, etc. It seemed ridiculous and gimmicky when I first saw it, but now actually seems like it might be fun. Of course, it probably helps that Cabel Sasser, who has a very entertaining writing style, wrote it. (STEALTH_MODE is great.)
As for the requirements (Nike+ shoes, iPod Nano), there’s a nice way to use non-Nike+ shoes. I also don’t have an iPod Nano (Jessica wears the Nano in this house), and I’ve read (next-to-last comment) that it doesn’t work in other iPods. Drat. What an odd limitation. As improbable as it is that someone would jog with an iPod Video, I have, and I was only forced to lean over just slightly. In fact, it made leaning into half of the turns much easier.
