To The Trucks!

We live close to a UPS distribution facility and so I frequently see their trucks in the morning. There’s something really cool about seeing UPS trucks streaming out of the complex, all turning onto the ramp to I-285 E/W and I-85 S, and then splitting up, two or three going off on each ramp. Men! To the trucks! Everybody ready? DELIVER!!! Just think of all of those happy packages riding the bridges of spaghetti junction, traveling to their new homes.

I often think about some shred of commentary I heard some time back about how UPS and FedEx have great public reps. Everybody loves to see the UPS guy! Our new XYZ (probably a pinball part) is here!

Conversely, I don’t think anybody I know likes to see the DHL… er… people. But maybe that’s just a thing here at my workplace.

As a vaguely related aside, Google Checkout looks really neat-o. I like the angle they’re taking with it: Manage your entire online shopping experience in one place! However, it is a little weird that when you try to log in they immediately prompt you for your credit card. Woah! We just met!
