Once More…
Once more, let us give praise to McCarran International Airport. And a “Hallelujah!” for the fact that I’m finally leaving. It was fun through Sunday (Jessica left, wisely, Monday morning), and I’ve no airplane rides scheduled for the near future.
I went back to the Las Vegas Pinball Hall of Fame last night. My playing wasn’t so great, but I tried out a few more of them, and also gained a bit more appreciation for the EM machines. Also had a nice chat with Tim (the operator, I believe, although I suppose operator is something of a bad word in pinball circles). He and his team are doing great work there, and it’s really a fun place to visit. I highly recommend it. I also recommend going by daylight; the trek back to the strip via city bus at 11:30pm was rather harrowing. Crazy people flock to bus stops by night, it seems.

Hey Adam, good to see you in Vegas last week …
We had a similar bus experience. We took a cab up to Fremont Street to see the lightshow (and all the slackjawed yokels) and then took the $2 shuttle bus back down to the strip. It was a double decker, garishly lit up from the inside at all times, and packed full of rednecks and retirees. We were up on the rarified second level, but the bus driver kept moaning into the PA about people needing to “move back or go upstairs” so the bottom must have been a zoo. Thing is, he left the mic on at all times so we got to hear all his other muttering too. Very memorable.
Didn’t get to the pinball museum, it’s on the list though .. I think next year I’ll rent a car (for the first time) and check it out along with other off-strip destinations like that hookah bar and the dam and perhaps a sampling of the delights beyond Clark County — kidding!
