World War: International Dialing Codes

Chap and I were checking out the international dialing codes today. Our fair country, the United States of America, is +1. (This can also expressed as “#1.”)

Uzbekistan (Capital: Tashkent) got the short (or long?) straw with +998. Russia has a very respectable +7. South Korea is kicking North Korea’s ass with its +82 vs +850. Take that, Dear Leader!

I’m not too clear on how Egypt (+20) beat out England (+44, Right), and Denmark is undoubtedly miffed with its +45. So close! Better that than to piggyback like Canada: +1. Sheesh. How lame is that?

I looked through the whole list for one number in particular. Unable to find it, the reason was clear after a moment of contemplation: nobody wants to be #2.
