About the Author’s Halloween Costume
Attention Blog Visitor: You may now laugh at me. Ready? Begin:

That’s me (on the right) made up as Brak’s Dad for a costume party and the Georgia Tech swing dance last Friday. I think we did a pretty good job considering my height. I hand-made the tie; Jessica painted the mostaccio onto my upper lip and spray-dyed my hair black. I’m also wearing about 3lbs. of hair product and that’s as much as we could make it sit down. Kindof “Brak’s Dad meets Errol Flynn” (dig that domain name!).
Jessica went as a cat, an even hotter version than what she wore to swing at the Marriott earlier that week (photo), so much so that I’m reluctant to post photos here. It’s a family blog, after all!
Our first stop was the Halloween costume party with Jessica’s coworkers, and then it was off to Georgia Tech for the dance. I haven’t put on anything truly resembling a costume in at least 10 years, so it was something of an experience for me. At first paranoid about smearing my mostaccio or touching my inky black hair, I quickly forgot I was wearing it at all. Later in the evening I found myself wondering how Jessica had kept a straight face with me looking so ridiculous all night.
Nobody really knew who I was, although most lit up like a light bulb as soon as I asked, “Have you ever seen The Brak Show?” This wasn’t all that surprising, though I think I had some fantasy that I’d at least be recognized without a cue at the Tech dance.
After the dance I approached a friend whose jaw dropped when he realized who I was. “Adam,” he said, “I had no idea that was you! I thought, ‘Who’s that creepy guy dancing with Jessica?’”

“Brak’s Dad meets Erroll Flynn”
Funny, my first impression was more along the lines of “Brak’s Dad meets Ernest P. Worrell”.
That’s a jam-up paper tie you’ve got there.
