Please Use the Most Up-To-Date Dead Software
I wrote to my bank because their bill payment system uses superfluous JavaScript to “enhance” the user experience. The end result is that the forms to pay bills don’t work with other browsers. I wrote to suggest that they consider simplifying their interface a bit, or at least providing an option. Their reply, before assuring me that my feedback would be valued by the appropriate committee, read:
Please use the latest versions of the Netscape or Internet Explorer browsers. The bill payment service is only compatible with the latest versions of Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers. The bill payment service will not function properly if you are not using one of these browsers.
Yes, I’ll get right on that - loading the latest versions of the two most prominently dead browsers. Thank you! Neither of these browsers have had a release in two years!

It looks like it is time for you to join the masses (aka Robert, myself, and who knows who else) and switch banks to Bank of America. I am pleased to report their online banking works across all browsers, and I have yet to see better overall options and choices anywhere else. Not only will you solve this problem, but it will give you the chance to write a very formalized letter (not email) to send to an executive about how they just lost your business for that very reason.

Bank-of-America! Bank-of-America! Bank-of-America! Bank-of-America!

I have been nothing but pleased (as Jon also notes) with BoA’s online features; they were stale for a while some time ago, but for at least the past 1.5 years they have been outstanding: account management, historical account information readily available online, excellent e-pay system, etc.
And yes, it’s true — all of their online features work in Firefox, the only browser you should be using anyway ;)
