Debut of the Panoramic Motion Projector
Tonight I finally took Morris’ Christmas gift to me for a spin as intended by its designer, Mr. Christmas (similar offerings).
The Panoramic Motion Projector (PMP) is a device about the size of a shoe box that comes with a variety of transparent discs, each with a different holiday theme. (The one pictured above is “Celebrate!”, unfortunately blurred due to the long exposure) The idea is that you can setup the PMP in your front yard (yard stake included), point it at your house, and apply power to let the festivities begin. PiMP, using part of a disco ball, will project a myriad of festive icons, sliding across your siding.
It is exhibited here, on the side of my house, not for reasons of shame. No, I am Proud of the PMP. Sadly, a street light illuminates not only the street, but also the front of my house in such a way that makes the PMP’s effect impossible to photograph using technology available to humans.
Thank you, Morris. My only regret is that this could not have been posted sooner. A word to the wise: do not place devices that use light bulbs on top of anything other than the earth itself (quicksand will not do). They will fall off of that perch and break the bulb. Then you will attempt to order a replacement from Amazon, only to find that you have chosen the wrong bulb. You will subsequently find that a suitable replacement bulb was available at Home Depot, and for significantly less money. Buy that bulb and make a blog post.
