Down with Dinner

This week has brought eating habits to an all time low.

On Saturday I went to Publix to buy wrapping paper and came out with salad fixins (recall). Dangit. I went back in for wrapping paper.

Sunday I went to the Christmas program and topped it off with, er, Hooters. If I died today, that would be my last dinner of substance: a wing sauce glazed fried chicken breast. There’s another joke here in the wings, but I haven’t the respect for Hooters to bother fleshing it out.

Monday thru Wednesday were when things really went south. Monday and Tuesday I was so interested in getting home and playing World of Warcraft (I have to keep up with Morris) that I “put off” dinner. This means having a bowl of soup at 11:50pm on one night, and the other night consuming a half sleeve of Chips Ahoy.

Last night probably would have been much the same except I had a date (it went very nicely, thanks - No, it was not with the organist), and managed to eat a Cliff Bar and part of a muffin (thanks, Mom) before running out the door. It takes time to style one’s hair, you know.

And now my stomach growls. I will feed you a delicious dinner tonight, Stomach. There will not be peas, nor corn, but there will be sustenance, unlike every other night this week. Hang in there ’til lunch, buddy.

I am, sadly, uncatchable — because I am sadder than you, at least in terms of hours played. However, I still manage to eat excellent meals: Monday and Tuesday nights were leftover (from Sunday evening) homemade Greek chicken with green bean casserole and garlic cheese (Romano and parmesan! score!) toast, and the remnants of a Do-It-Yourself Some-Assembly-Required Caesar Supreme Salad Kit; last night was a frozen pizza (DiGiornio’s 10″ Supreme). And last week’s evening WoW insanity was fueled by at least 3 meals from the enormous vat of spectacular chili made the weekend prior to that.

I think Blizzard needs to include a WoW-flavored pro-regular-scheduled-healthy-meal poster in the game’s retail box. A poster with the spirit and wholesomeness of this one, courtesy of the Office of War Information.
