On eVite…

eVite has become somewhat ubiquitous in my circle of friends. It started several years ago when parties were organized via eVite. The organizer would select a stylish background (back-lit martini glasses, an out-of-focus birthday cake, etc.) and type in the e-mail addresses of his/her closest 100 friends.

Then we started using eVite to organize smaller gatherings: Trivial Pursuit Night at the house, dinner out at Maggiano’s (it’s a shame reservation systems haven’t been connected to eVite yet…).

Today, though, I took eVite to a new level. I eVited a girl on a date. I selected a tasteful background (coffee cups and candles), a title (”Date with Me”), and put in her e-mail address. As the organizer, I’m already marked in as “I’d love to!” and I just received an e-mail from eVite notifying me that she has accepted!

That’s two “I’d love to!”s, zero “I’d love to - some other time,” and zero “I’m washing my hair that night.” I think it’ll be fun.
