Georgia Tech Career Fair: Sold Out
My company is attending the Georgia Tech Career Fair - the big one, held in the Coliseum, where students in suits run around in a big, hot wheel trying to catch a dangling carrot. Today, from the organizers:
For the first time, we have SOLD OUT the Career Fair and have over 240 companies attending along with a growing waiting list of employers eager to hire from Georgia Tech.
It’s hard to believe that this is actually the first time it’s happened, but if it’s true then that’s quite an indication of the engineering sector’s hiring attitude.
On the other hand, maybe it’s just an image crisis. Recruiters will often tell other recruiters things they won’t tell the students. My co-worker asked some recruiters last year about their outlook. Several (particularly the big ones) admitted, “Oh, yeah, we don’t actually have any positions available - we’re just here to keep our image up.”
“Hi, do you have a resume?”
